Before the legal language below, here’s what matters:
Your stories belong to you. Everything you share — your words, your photos, your life story — is saved to your own Google Drive. We don’t store your personal content on our servers.
We use AI to help you. Your conversations are processed by AI services (Anthropic’s Claude and ElevenLabs) to transcribe your voice, conduct the interview, and polish your words into prose. These services process your content but don’t keep it.
The beta is free. Memory Companion is currently free while we’re in beta. If we introduce pricing in the future, we’ll give you advance notice and your existing content stays yours regardless.
You can leave anytime. Your Life Story, transcripts, and photos are already in your Google Drive. If you stop using Memory Companion, your content is still there — it’s yours.
We respect your privacy. We don’t sell your data. We don’t show ads. We don’t share your stories with anyone. Our full Privacy Policy explains the details.
By using Memory Companion, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.
Memory Companion is operated by 0600 LLC, 459 Columbus Ave, #306, New York, NY 10024 (“we,” “us,” or “our”).
Memory Companion is a memoir creation service that helps you capture and preserve your life stories through AI-guided voice conversations. Your stories are transformed into written prose and stored in your personal Google Drive account.
To use Memory Companion, you must:
• Be at least 18 years old (or have a parent or guardian set up the account for you).
• Have a Google account with Google Drive access.
• Grant Memory Companion the permissions it requests during sign-in (access to create and edit files in your Google Drive).
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account. We access your Google Drive only to create and manage Memory Companion documents within a dedicated “Memory Companion” folder.
Ownership. You own everything you create through Memory Companion — your spoken words, your written stories, your uploaded photos, and the polished prose generated from your conversations. We claim no ownership of your content.
Where your content lives. Your personal content is stored in your Google Drive account, in a folder called “Memory Companion.” This includes your Life Story document, transcripts, uploaded photos, and profile information. We do not store your personal stories, transcripts, or photos on our servers.
What we store on our servers. We store only the minimum operational data needed to run the service: your account information (name, email, language preference), session statistics (duration, word count), and technical identifiers that help us locate your documents in Google Drive. None of this is your story content.
License to operate. By using the service, you give us permission to process your content as needed to provide the service — this includes sending your voice recordings for transcription, sending transcripts to AI services for conversation and polishing, and writing the results back to your Google Drive. We do not use your content for any other purpose.
Memory Companion uses third-party AI services to function:
Anthropic (Claude) processes your conversations, generates interview questions, and transforms your transcripts into polished prose. Under our agreement, Anthropic does not use your content to train their AI models.
ElevenLabs converts your speech to text and converts text responses to spoken voice. ElevenLabs processes your audio to provide transcription and does not retain your recordings beyond what is needed to complete the request.
Google provides authentication (sign-in) and storage (Google Drive) for your content, under Google’s own terms of service and privacy policy.
While these services process your content to make Memory Companion work, we do not share your content with any other third parties, and we do not use your content for advertising, marketing, or AI training purposes.
Memory Companion is currently in beta. This means:
The service is provided free of charge during the beta period.
Things may change. We’re actively improving the service. Features may be added, changed, or removed.
Issues may occur. While we work hard to prevent problems, beta software may have bugs. We recommend keeping your own backups of important content (your Google Drive content is a natural backup since you control it directly).
We’d love your feedback. If something isn’t working well or could be better, please let us know at support@memorycompanion.org.
If we introduce paid plans: We will notify you at least 30 days in advance. You will never be charged without your explicit consent. If you choose not to subscribe, your existing content remains in your Google Drive — we will never delete or restrict access to content you’ve already created.
Please use Memory Companion responsibly:
• Use the service for its intended purpose — capturing and preserving life stories and personal memories.
• Don’t attempt to misuse, overload, or interfere with the service.
• Don’t use the service to create content that is illegal, harmful, or violates others’ rights.
• Don’t share your account access with others (though we plan to support family sharing in the future).
We aim to keep Memory Companion available and reliable, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control may cause temporary unavailability.
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we’ll notify you via email or within the app. Continued use of Memory Companion after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
You can stop anytime. Simply stop using Memory Companion. Your content remains in your Google Drive.
Account deletion. If you want us to delete your account data from our servers, contact us at support@memorycompanion.org. We will remove all data we hold about you in our database. Your Google Drive content is yours and remains untouched — you can keep it or delete it yourself.
We may suspend access if you violate these terms, but we will try to contact you first and we will never delete your Google Drive content.
Memory Companion is provided “as is” during the beta period. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
• Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (during the free beta, this is zero).
• We are not responsible for the availability or actions of third-party services (Google, Anthropic, ElevenLabs).
Important note about your content: Because your content is stored in your Google Drive, its availability depends on Google’s services, not ours. We strongly encourage you to use Google’s own backup features for content that is important to you.
